The Big Wigs In Real Estate: Jason Halpern


Born in January 1, 1975, Jason Halpern is a renowned real estate developer and philanthropist from New York. He is the manager of JMH Development, a family business with 50 years of great experience in constructing and managing properties. Halpern began his real estate career at Halpern Enterprises; a Westchester firm that was founded by his late father founded.

JMH Development is a top real estate development company that has successfully overseen development of major properties in the US, including the upcoming Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It invests in both residential and commercial properties. One of their recent developments was renovating the 184 Kent Avenue and coming up with a 340 luxury residential property for renting. This earned the project recognition for 2011 Building Brooklyn Award under the adaptive reuse category on the National Historic Register. After that, they are undertaking a project of coming up with nine ultra modern luxury townhouses in the landmark Cobble Hill in neighborhood of Brooklyn known as The Townhouses of Cobble Hill.

Most recently, JMH collaborated with Madison Estates to purchase the Brooklyn Heights Cinema, and came up with luxury condos. JMH works with a mission of providing high quality, long-lasting and modern properties. The company had an investment of close to $500 million in state projects in New York as of 2010. JMH announced in 2015, the completion of the Aloft South Beach a two hundred and thirty five room hotel in the heart of Miami Beach. The project was collaboration between JMH Development and Madden Real Estate Ventures, an aim to reuse the historic Motel Ankara and to come up with an eight-story tower. Construction was done by Plaza Construction with ADD, Inc. as the architect.

Working with JMD has given Jason sufficient experience and together with his vision and foresight he has become a preferred choice for many in the construction industry. As for JMD and all its employees, they believe in respecting communities which they develop.

In his philanthropic side, Jason has contributed greatly to the Joel A. Halpern Trauma Center which is in Westchester Medical Center. The foundation is a Level I Trauma Center with the human capital and amenities to provide open-heart surgery, neurosurgery emergencies and orthopedic surgery. It also caters for burn victims, internal injuries, maternal care and pediatrics among others. He has also influenced JMH to giving. The company went to a partnership with a charity company donating $20,000 for every contract signed to support water projects in Ethiopia and Nepal.

Speaking in one interview for developers, Jason says there is a tremendous demand for turnkey, family-sized residences in this neighborhood, making the industry a viable one. He believes in building the right product, at the right place, with a reasonable price. He remains concerned and committed to using his real estate expertise to do good to everyone around him.
