After training, Mr. Dondero was enrolled at American Express as a Corporate Bond Analyst where his excellence in work made him promoted to a Portfolio Manager. In 1989, Mr. James Dondero quite working at American Express and joined Protective Life where he met Mark Okada. The two joined hands and together they created a joint venture that is now the infamous Highland Capital Management.
